Gage Carlisle |
Valcos discovered poison needles on the stairs up to the office, and needed medical care before the office could be investigated. Pumpelio sang a song of Restoration to remove the poison effects. Valcos was unable to remove the poison needle trap on the stairs, and so Valcos began moving boxes to build a staircase to the window to Berleth's office.
Simimel began to check the bodies and storage spaces. The lab equipment and paraphernalia would be turned in as evidence. They found further evidence in Berleth's office - more evidence! We turn in the evidence and prisoners to the Captain, making a full report.
The squad then met with Maurissa Jonne, who gave us a key to a lockbox, where she has stowed the device given to her by the Skinner. She reviews the procedure for getting into the lockbox at the Lucky Nimbus Casino, owned by Gage Carlisle. To access the strongbox, the squad would need to have both keys in the vault.
The squad reported to Captain Asilia. “No,” Captain Asilia muses aloud, “the best way to ensure the recovery of the Twilight Four’s device would be to sneak in somehow, perhaps during some high-profile event during which Carlyle would be amply distracted.” Paging through an agenda of upcoming events related to the Radiant Festival, the captain’s eyes widen, and she slaps the papers down on her desk. “Here.” A bold header on the page announces in large letters: “The Floating Gala at the Lucky Nimbus.”
The squad goes in undercover.
- Simi goes in as the Party Paladin.
- Valcos builds a cover as a catering specialist, pushing a cart of desserts. The head chef is Chef Donala Pechiro.
- Grimwald goes as a party goer.
- Pumpelio goes as a party goer.
- Jorin as a mime performer with Mr. Gone.
The Lucky Nimbus Casino (Chapter 01)
The squad infiltrates the party, connected by a telepathic bond, and Simi is welcomed by Gage Carlisle, who is accompanied everywhere by his two bodyguards.

Svart Alfar Assassins |
The bodyguards flip a dice table and get Gage behind it The Svart Alfar assassins continue to fire crossbow bolts, clearly proud of the marksmanship training they received at the Imperial Stormtrooper Academy.
Valcos charges one Svart Alfar, flinging a bottle of sparkling wine into the assassin's face and stealing the assassin's curved Elvin blade. Pumpelio seals the entrance to the casino with an orange Chromatic wall. The assassin demonstrates the shadowstep ability, only to find that Simi swiftly followed, and cut him down.
Svart Alfar continue to fire, and some shadowstep closer to Gage. Simi, Grimwald and Valcos defend Gage, and the assassins flee - into Mr. Gone and an acid explosion. Pumpelio stuns them all with a sonic burst, and Simi unleashes a Sunblade strike to finish them.
Gage informs the squad that the Svart Alfar assassins were likely hired by an enemy wizard named Scathka, who lost an artifact to the casino and was trying to intimidate Gage into surrendering it. Simi convinces Gage that the attack might be a clever ruse, a distraction while another team steals the artifact. Gage is convinced enough to go check.
Pumpelio casts invisibility on Valcos so he can stealth in the shadows and follow Gage into the vault. Valcos goes through the cashier cage and down the stairs... to his doom!?
(The game paused for the night)
